Fuchsia Rainbow

Hey!

How has everyone been? Good I hope!

Here are some pictures of the manicure I've had on for the past few days.

I started off with Barry M's Fuchsia topped with Sinful Color's Forget Now -

2 coats of Barry M Fuchsia plus 1 coat of Sinful Color's Forget Now

Now I was perfectly happy with this manicure but then I went shopping and gave into buying Gosh's Rainbow :) I'm not meant to be buying nail polish at the moment but I just couldn't resist any longer!
When I got home I didn't have time to do a whole new manicure so I just added the Rainbow over the top of the pink -

LOVE! I have to say though that my camera just doesn't have the capabilities of capturing the Rainbow polish effect properly. It is SO much nicer in real life!

Here's picture of polishes used -

Anyway, I now want to try Rainbow over every polish I own. A back up bottle would be a good idea me thinks ;)

Nail Polish & Makeup Storage.

Hello!

It's taken several attempts but I've finally managed to upload a video to YouTube to show you guys my storage!

The reason I don't sound very bouncy in it is because it was about my 5th attempt to record a video under 10mins long! I couldn't edit because as soon as I edit anything it seems to increase the upload time to about 10 hours!

Anyway I decided to do a video because there were just too many pictures. For those of you who don't want to watch the video then I will put a few pics on later :)

Sorry about the quality and lack of good lighting!

So here it is -

As you can see my collection is not nearly as big as most people's but I'm having a good go at increasing it :)

Hope you enjoyed the video. Let me know if you want to see anything more closely or have any questions!

Storage, Sinful Color's Secret Admirer and Some Nail Art.

Hi!

This is another post that's going to be picture heavy but this time it's all about polish!

I was looking on youtube earlier and saw this tutorial by Nihrida. Seeing as I already had a dark polish on I thought I'd give it a go! Nihrida's blog is one of my favourites to read and great for inspiration!

Here are the results -

I used Sinful Color's Secret Admirer for the base (see below for more about that), Sinful Color's Queen of Beauty as the glitter and BarryM's Silver at the nail bed.

I'm quite pleased with this. As you can see I messed up in a few places but overall I'm happy with the result so thank you
Nihrida! I should try things out more often :)

As I said earlier I used Sinful Color's Secret Admirer as the base so here are some pictures of just that before I glittered it!

Isn't it gorgeous! It is another of the polishes that was in the birthday parcel from
Niki and it may be one of my favourites...

It only needed 1 coat (1 COAT!!) and dried really fast compared to other Sinful Color's I've tried.

Lastly, I went to Ikea on Friday and bought some new storage for my nail polish and accessories. I was thinking about getting a Helmer like I've seen other people using but in the end I went with the Andy because it's more my style and my collection doesn't really justify a helmer at the moment!

I absolutely love it and I can just pull it round to wherever I'm doing my nails that day. Maybe one day I'll have enough polish to need another one.... ;)

Finally, I just cant resist adding a non polish related picture so here's a picture of the dress Maz bought me yesterday as an early birthday present. It's from Jane Norman and was love at first sight for me! I loved it so much that Maz had to get it for me :)

That's it for now. Hope you've all had a good weekend!

50+ Followers Giveaway! CLOSED

Hey!

Finally here is the giveaway post :)

There is only one rule - you must be a follower of this blog and leave a comment below.

I've thought a lot about the prizes and as I've said previously, I can't get too many things but I hope some of you will want what I've come up with :)

Originally I was going to buy the items to giveaway first but then I thought it might be nicer to give people more of a choice so the prize is as follows -

5 x Barry M Nail Paints plus a few extra bits and bobs

OR

1 x Illamasqua Nail Polish plus a few extra bits and bobs

The reason I've given 2 options is that I wanted to give an option that might appeal to my fellow UK bloggers more than the Barry M as obviously it's easy to get here! Of course if you're an international follower and would prefer the Illamasqua then that's fine too!

If you win then I will contact you asking what your favourite colours are and I will choose your prize based on that. I'd like to say that you can choose specific things but I can't guarantee that they'd be available in the shops when I go.

I hope I haven't made this too complicated....

To enter please leave a comment below telling me which option you would choose for a prize.

To get an extra entry follow me on twitter and tweet about this giveaway.

To get 3 extra entries mention this giveaway in your blog.

I will do a random draw on 9th September to pick the winner.

Good Luck and I hope you like this giveaway!

Some Simple (and quite bad) Nail Art!

Hey!

I wasn't going to put this nail art attempt on here but in the end I thought maybe it was better to put it on so that when I improve I can look back at this!

To be honest it's not as bad as I'm making it out. It's just not perfect and I'm a bit of a perfectionist...

I saw a similar design in a nail book I was reading so thought I'd try it as it's so simple.

I used Hot Looks Dynasty for the whole nail, BarryM Fuchsia for the petals and Konad white polish for the middle dots.

As I've said, I quite like it and in my defence I did it very quickly thus the rather squiffy flowers! I think if I took my time on it though it'd be a nice design! It definitely has potential :)
I used the dotting tool from my nail art brushes that I got ages ago. Yes, I've finally started to use them!
I'm so excited about the Secret Santa thing (see previous post). I love buying things for people and of course I love receiving stuff as well :) I just don't know where to start on my wish list! There are so many polishes that I would like!! Maybe I'll stick to colours rather than actual named polishes....decisions, decisions!
Also I have to apologise for my sporadic responses to comments. I do try to keep up but it really annoys me that I can't answer individually to people! I'm going to try to be better from now on :)

Barry M Silver Cascade

Hi!

I was meaning to put Barry M Cyan on again today to show you guys but I have been extremely lazy and somehow time just got away from me!

So instead, here are some pictures of Barry M Silver Cascade that I tried a while a go but hadn't got round to posting.

I think that was 2 coats and then I eventually put on another coat to fill it in even more.
Sparkly hey!! I like it a lot and have worn it a couple of times as it goes with everything and dries SO fast that I can put it on when I'm in a rush!
Recently I put it on with a layer of Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear Strobe Light (thank you Nicole!)over the top and it was GORGEOUS! That was whilst I was in London though so didn't take any pictures! I'll definitely wear that combo again at some point though so I'll be sure to take some pictures then!
That's it for now, my boyfriend, Maz, is away this weekend so I think I will be doing lots of nail painting and maybe some nail art.
Oh and I have realised that I've hit 50 subscribers! Yay! A contest/giveaway will follow some time very soon!

A franken using BarryM Dazzledust

Hello again!

So yesterday when I began to feel a better from being ill I decided to try another franken.

This time I tried using a BarryM Dazzle Dust. I think it's called silver green although I can't be certain as it's quite old and no longer has it's label on.

I mixed it with some Sally Hansen Platinum Frost.

I really LOVE how this turned out! It's such a good colour for me as I wear quite a lot of clothes this colour.

I tried a million pictures but none of them really show just how nice this colour is. It's kind of a metallic finish.

This was 2 coats and a top coat.

I then decided to see what it'd look like with a glitter top coat.

Again the pictures really don't show how nice (in my opinion) it looks!
I think this was a successful franken :)
This Wednesday I am going to London for a few days with some girl friends of mine. I'm so glad I started this blog as it means I can go back and look at the photos to decide what colour nail polish to wear! I think it's going to be lubu heels.... but not sure about my toes yet!
Depending on how much money I spend in the evening etc. I am hoping to buy some nail polishes whilst there...there's bound to be some makes that I've never seen.
I can't wait :) We're going to see 2 musicals, eat loads, have a few cocktails, shop and do some sightseeing. I have no idea how I'm going to fit everything I want to take in to my suitcase....
Anyway that's it for tonight! Hope you like my franken! Maybe I should think of a name for it......

BarryM Racing Green

Hello!

I have been slacking at posting again :(

I haven't really done much with my nails this week. I've been a bit of a stress head and also have been a bit ill the past couple of days..probably due to the stress!!

Anyway I'm feeling loads better now so I thought I'd do a couple of post with the 2 colours I've worn this week.

For anyone wondering, Bobo is much better but still not fully recovered. She only had to spend 1 night at the vets but has been on painkillers and antibiotics ever since which means a daily trip to the vets! She is not amused.

So the colour I had on earlier in the week was BarryM Racing Green.

I wasn't sure about it at first but then I saw it in the light and really loved it. Iwas going to konad it but just didn't get round to it in the end.

This was 2 coats. Good application as ever with BarryM.

I think it'd look good with a konad design so I'll definitely putting it back on at some point.

That's it for this post. I will be doing another one straight after this of the franken I made this week!

A quick hello and a dodgy franken!

Hello everyone!

Sorry it's been a few days since my last post. I've had a few dramas and just haven't had a chance to do a decent nail job!
I tend to be away from the computer at weekends anyway as my boyfriend and I have a no internet rule for the evenings and weekends. I usually end up going on when he goes to sleep as my sleeping pattern is quite different to his!

My biggest drama has been my cat being poorly :( Not the kitten Barnaby but our cat Bobo. She was ill at the weekend and then I took her to the vets first thing this morning and they've kept her over night. I cried my eyes out. She should be coming home tomorrow. I really hope so, I HATE being without her.

So I didn't do much with my nails over the weekend but I did attempt a franken yesterday which didn't really go to plan.... I wasn't even going to bother showing you guys but it's all I have to show you at the moment! So I will share my fail with you all :)

This is BarryM silver and a bourjois pale blue pigment. I really like the colour and it was exactly what I wanted but it's so lumpy!! Even from a distance you can see it! I think it's the bourjois pigment that's the problem, the chunks were too big....

I put a top coat on and then a glitter top coat as well. It improved it but still not great.

Then I decided to put a konad over it to see if that helped and also just to get some practise!

I think it looks a bit better but I will still be removing it fairly soon!

So that was my franken fail. I will use a better pigment next time and see if I have more success!

Here are a couple more Barnaby pics for those kitten lovers out there :) I just can't help myself!

Watching the cricket....

That's it for today. I will be redoing my nails tomorrow so will post again soon!
Everyone keep their fingers crossed that Bobo can come home tomorrow!!

Konad - The First Attempt...

Hello again!

So, as I said after my last post I attempted my first konadicure. I'd had a practise on things other than my nails and had mixed results so I was excited to see what it'd look like!

I have to say that the whole process of konading is very satisfying. I can completely see why it's addictive.

For my first attempt I don't think I did too badly.... but I didn't do too great either :)

Some are wonky and the print didn't come out properly on others.

My ring finger came out well though I think.
After I'd messed up the left hand I decided there was no point doing the same design on the other hand as I was just going to take it all off again so I tested some of my other stamps instead.
They all worked out pretty well I think, I just need to work on my placement! I particularly like the stars on my middle finger.

I like this one as well but it needs to be placed differently because at the moment it reminds me of the Soviet Union flag!

So that was my first attempt! I need to practise more I think but it will be totally worth it in the end.
More experiments to follow soon!
Oh and one more thing.... I'm trying to decide whether to cut my nails or not. The length they are at the moment is the longest they've ever been. Through personal choice I have always chopped them and kept them a bit shorter than this just but I kind of like them this long...what do you guys think? Chop or no chop?!

BarryM Turquoise

Hello!

I hope everyone's had a nice weekend! Mine was lots of spring cleaning. It's sad but I like to clean :)

As well as spring cleaning I went shopping on Saturday morning and got a few new polishes.

The 2 Sally Hansen ones were 2 for a £1 from the pound shop and I got them to make frankens with!

I also got BarryM Turquoise (I really wish they'd be more original with their names!). It's very similar to Mint Green but that's exactly why I got it!

I love this colour just as much as the Mint Green!
After finishing this I plan to attempt to put some konad on it..... if it goes well I will post the results!
I'm glad so many of you thought my new kitten, Barnaby, is cute! I am so in love with him :) Lucy, you were right about him being named after the detective! I am a big murder mystery fan.
I will post some more pics of him for you guys to see soon!
That's it for now. Keep your fingers crossed that I get on ok with the konad because I don't want to take this colour off just yet :)
